With a rich history of what was once a holiday destination for Melbourne’s well-heeled, Mount Eliza is bordered to the East by the Moorooduc Highway and the Mornington Peninsula’s plains beyond. Mount Eliza rises up and stands over Port Phillip Bay to the West – with a number of calm, secluded beaches accessed by steps down from cliff-top walkways.
Mount Eliza is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s more well-established postcodes, with a choice of properties that range from Tudor style to contemporary masterpieces, cliff-top mansions and large family homes on generous and well-vegetated plots.
Median house prices are $750,000 with a broad range that can reach into the $5mill.+ bracket, whilst unit prices average at $450,000 – according to Australian Property Monitors data for the year finishing January 2014.
The main shopping village maintains a quaint atmosphere, with the high-end retail one might expect to find in Melbourne’s inner-East. Resident profiles are broad, with slightly older, professional people well represented. Many regularly commute the fifty minutes or so drive into Melbourne. There are also three state primary schools to choose from and the Mount Eliza Secondary College on Canadian Bay Road. Mount Eliza is also home to a world-renowned Executive Education school linked to the University of Melbourne’s leadership and MBA programs.
